Head Pastry Chef, Owner and Hoboken resident, Jennifer Bunce-Timmons, has loved baking (and eating!) desserts, especially cake, since she was a child. With no intention of baking for a living, she found success in Event Planning and Public Relations post-college. But after 5 years of the corporate grind, she knew she had to find a “sweeter” way of living. She decided to turn her hobby of baking and cake decorating into a career so she attended the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC in 2008.
After graduating with high honors in Pastry Arts, she interned with famed cake decorators in NYC and was quickly reassured she chose the right profession. After leaving a pastry chef position at a West Village restaurant, Jennifer established The Hudson Cakery in May 2009. It started out of her Jersey City apartment, then in an incubator kitchen and finally the doors opened to her private studio in Weehawken, NJ in September 2011.
The Hudson Cakery has been featured on The Cooking Channel’s Cake Hunters (2 episodes – winning 1!) and in print – The New York Times, Brides Magazine, The Knot Magazine, NJ Bride Magazine, NJ Contemporary Bride Magazine, 201 Bride Magazine, and 201 Family Magazine. We are proud to have won the The Knot Best of Weddings 2011, 2013, 2017-2020 (Hall of Fame), as well as the WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards™ 2010 – 2018 and NJ Bride Love It Award 2013 -2018.
Our boutique is located in Weehawken, NJ and we are by appointment only.
